How To Throw A Bridgerton-Themed Bridal Shower?

Recently, I had the absolute joy of planning and attending my friend’s Bridgerton-themed bridal shower in New York City.

Today, I’ll walk you through all our steps to create this magical event, from outfit selection to food, decorations, and games.

I asked my friend if I could post her pictures on my website. She kindly said she didn’t like it and I accepted her privacy. But there are beautiful images of Bridgerton-inspired bridal showers online that I have collected and will credit.

If you’re planning a bridal shower or another special occasion, these tips will help you throw a memorable and stylish party.

Choosing the Perfect Outfit

Dresses and Accessories

I had two dresses to choose from for the shower: one was purple, pleated, and had tiered layers (which I ended up wearing), and the other was a thrifted prom dress that felt a bit too formal.

Since our theme was Bridgerton-inspired, we aimed for elegant yet accessible outfits. We ordered some fun accessories like hats and gloves from Amazon and thrifted a lot of our items to keep things authentic and budget-friendly.

A helpful tip is to draw inspiration from a specific image or aesthetic. For us, it was a Pinterest image that guided our choices.

My mom thrifted most of the gloves and some hats, adding a vintage charm to our looks. Gloves, though trendy, proved impractical for eating and using our phones, so consider that if you’re planning similar outfits.

Delightful Food and Drinks

Sweets and Treats

We sourced cookies from a local bakery and added macarons and other desserts. My friend, the bride-to-be, preferred cookies over traditional cake, aligning perfectly with her taste.

Savory Options and Mimosas

We hired a personal chef to handle the savory options. They prepared delicious Lemon custard tea cakes, finger sandwiches, and Little Baileys cheesecakes.

For drinks, we set up a mimosa bar with flower ice cubes—a Pinterest-inspired detail that everyone loved. We also had a coffee bar, which turned out to be a bit excessive in quantity, but it’s better to have too much than too little!

Stunning Decorations

Creating the Atmosphere

Our main goal was to create a photo-worthy backdrop. My mom, a thrift store enthusiast, had been collecting vintage teacups, plates, and other serving items for months. This added a unique and cohesive look to our table settings.

We used a flower garland and a poster stand to create a beautiful backdrop for photos. Adding lace for dimension and a sheet on the ground to cover the concrete floor completed the look.

DIY and Thrifted Decor

Thrifting played a big role in our decorations. From old teacups to vintage chairs, everything had a story and added to the overall theme.

If you have time before the event, start collecting items early. After the party, you can always sell them on platforms like Etsy or Poshmark.

Fun and Games

Icebreakers and Entertainment

Planning games was the easiest. We played a Bridgerton-inspired Bingo I bought from Amazon.

We also ended up doing a simple question game about my friend which was fun but a bit awkward due to the variety of guests’ answers. This game was a great way to learn new things about her from different stages of her life.

Traditional Touches

An idea we loved but couldn’t implement was creating a bouquet from the bows of the opened gifts to use during the rehearsal dinner.

This is a sweet way to incorporate a traditional element and have a keepsake from the shower.

Final Thoughts

Balancing Practicality and Fun

While planning this shower, I learned a lot about balancing fun and practicality. For instance, although I overestimated the amount of food and drinks, it ensured no one was left hungry or thirsty.

The decorations were beautiful and mostly thrifted, keeping costs low and adding a personal touch.

Enjoying the Moment

Despite the planning and details, the most important part was enjoying the day with friends and family. The bridal shower was a success because it reflected my friend’s personality and style, making it a memorable day for everyone involved.

If you’re planning a bridal shower, take inspiration from these ideas but remember to tailor them to the bride’s preferences. Happy planning!
